You would like to create Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and you have VMware infrastructure, but you don’t have full admin rights to manage it (you can’t on the fly create VMs). We can create VMs inside virtual Windows 2019 Server with Hyper-V nested mode.
1. We need at least one VMware host
2. We need some desktop to migrate and Disk2vhd written by Mark Russinovich (current CTO of Azure).
3. We need to enable nested virtualization for W2K19 VM.
4. We don’t take security shortcuts, so we enable Secure Boot like features for W2K19 VM.
5. We use VHD image cloned from a tablet over SMB (few hours using WiFi, you can push it over night).
6. Secure Boot enabled in cloned desktop — for sure.
7. Just to show you that I’m not cheating — it was a Chuwi tablet.
8. And OS was migrated to Hyper-V host running on VMware.
Migrated customer OS can be accessed from VMware Web UI or via RDP.
